Short Load

This is a term that applies to high-end, large-format mixing consoles, where each channel is typically built onto a module that is installed into the console frame. A mixing console is “short loaded” when fewer than the maximum number of channel modules are installed in the frame. For example, a 48-channel mixing console frame might be short loaded to 24 channels, leaving room for an additional 24 channel modules to be installed later.
