When packaging drums, some manufacturers put together “shell packs,” which are drum kits without the snare stand, snare drum, cymbals, cymbal stands, throne, or kick pedal. In other words, a shell pack consists of a kick drum and toms. Snare, cymbals, thone, and pedal must be added to complete the kit. This allows for easier mixing/matching of the snare, cymbals, and pedal the drummer needs in order to achieve the sound they are after.
