Royer recently sent us the first microphone from their new Active Series. It’s the R-122, the world’s first phantom powered ribbon microphone. The tone and performance is very similar to their R-121 ribbon mic – warm and natural – but with 15 dB more gain and impedance matching circuitry that allows the ribbon to operate at its full potential regardless of the preamplifier you plug it into.
Mark of the Unicorn (MOTU) has release version 3.02 of Digital Performer. This version corrects a problem where some Titanium PowerBooks would hang upon quitting or restarting the program. It is free to all registered users of 3.x and can be downloaded from their website. We also recommend downloading the most current version of MAS and Free MIDI while you are there.
If you live or work in the Chicago area mark your calendar for March 21. We’re going to be hosting an evening of information, education and innovation with a hands on demonstration of TASCAM’s newest digital solution, the DM24. See how this high resolution digital mixing console may be just the answer to what you’ve been looking for whether you record to ADATs, TASCAM DTRS machines, computer based DAW or integration into a digital production environment. Standard features like intuitive machine control, dynamic automation, built in effects from Antares and TCWorks, plus a host of I/O including 16 mic-pres makes the DM24 a remarkably affordable value and makes this an event you won’t want to miss. The event will be held at Sweetwater’s Chicago office, which is located at 1 East Superior Avenue (Corner Superior and State Street) Suite 301. More details can be found at our Shows and Seminars Web Page.
