The head on the side of the drum that is no struck by the drummer/drumsticks. The resonant head is intended to enhance the tone of the drum by resonating as the batter head is struck. In modern drum kits, all snare drums have resonant heads, while toms and kick drums may or may not use them, depending on the drummer’s preference.
