Flanges protruding from the front panel of a piece of rackmount gear that are used to secure the item to the rack rails. In some cases, rack ears are extended parts of the front panel of the item. In other cases, rack ears are smaller “L” brackets that attach to the front sides of the item. Typically bolts pass through holes in the rack ears and are screwed into the rack rails to secure the item into the rack.
