Novation has just released a new MIDI controller that’s surprisingly compact, but doesn’t sacrifice important features. It’s called the ReMote SL Compact and since it contains Automap Universal, it provides an affordable route to instant, intelligent control over all major sequencers and any automatable plug-ins you might have. There are two versions available: a 25-note model for those who are especially space-challenged, as well as a 49-note model, both of which have semi-weighted keys with aftertouch. There are seven velocity curves assignable for each template plus pitch and mod wheels, and a 144-character screen capable of displaying up to eight assignable parameters at once. Add full MIDI implementation, sustain pedal and expression pedal inputs, eight rotary encoders, eight trigger pads, transport controls, and much more. It comes bundled with Ableton Live Lite 6.
