This refers to the shape of the back of the neck of a stringed instrument, such as a guitar or bass: dimensions such as the thickness at various points on the neck and the overall contour (shape) of the back of the neck. Examples include a “V”-shaped profile, a “U”-shaped profile, an asymmetrical profile (where the bass side of the neck is shaped differently than the treble side), and so on.
