This timber is often referred to as Eastern Mahogany, as its properties are much the same: moderately dense and very durable, making it a good choice for necks on guitars, ukuleles, and mandolins. Nato is the common name for wood obtained from two species of tree, Mora excelsa and M. gonggrijpil. It is considered to be a “value-priced” wood and is often used when constructing budget or beginners instruments.
