More MacBook Memory

Q: I’ve heard that it’s possible to put more than two gigabytes of RAM in an Apple MacBook. Is this true?

A: The offical word from Apple is that the MacBook supports up to two gigabytes of RAM. However, users in various online forums have reported success installing four gigs – though the computer can currently only access 3.3 gigs of that RAM (some suggest this may change with 64-bit firmware).

We haven’t tried this ourselves, and recommend that you keep in mind that operating outside the “official” capabilities of the computer may cause damage to the machine and/or void your warranty.
