The good folks over at Moog will be issuing a limited-edition run of the famous Taurus Bass Pedal, which is, in effect, a killer Moog synth with a pedalboard rather than a keyboard. This new re-creation replicates the original Taurus I sound engine, but it also adds a few modern features. The Taurus will feature a 100% analog sound engine that’s based (no surprise) on the original Taurus I circuitry, a one-and-a-half octave pedalboard, two VCOs, an ADS contour generator, one VCF, an output VCA, a total of 48 programmable bass sounds, MIDI sync, tap tempo, and a whole lot more!
In all, only 1,000 of the new Taurus pedals will be built, and the first 250 customers to place an order will receive a hefty $300 discount off the projected price of $1995 (a $500 deposit will be required). Moog will only be making this offer until February 15, 2009, so there’s not a whole lot of time to dawdle. But, don’t start making room for it in your van right now, since the company expects that the new Taurus Bass Pedal will not ship until the fourth quarter of 2009 (the scary thing is that it will be here before we know it!).
