MIDI Merger

A device that merges MIDI data from two or more sources. MIDI mergers are more than just electrical combiners (or “Y” cables); they must carefully keep the MIDI bytes of data in tact, which means they somewhat intelligently look at the information passing to ensure they don’t disrupt the continuity. Some MIDI mergers enable the user to give priority to one port so timing critical data – such as MIDI clock data – can pass through with minimal delay.
