Q: The nickel-plated covers on my Les Paul reissue are getting a sort of hazy look. What can I do to bring back the original shine.
A: What you’re dealing with is likely tarnish, a thin layer of corrosion that develops over the nickel plating as it undergoes oxidation. It’s related to rust, but thankfully is not as damaging. We suggest following Gibson’s approved methods of dealing with tarnish, which is with their Vintage Reissue Guitar Restoration Kit. It works on any guitar.
