A: Most Macs made since late 2006 will be able to run Lion. In order to run OS X 10.7 (Lion), your Mac needs to meet the following specs:
- A minimum of 2GB of RAM. 4GB or more of RAM is recommended for best performance with Lion.
- Intel Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7 or Xeon processor.
- Your Mac must be running Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) version 10.6.6 or later in order to install Lion. (This is because the Mac App store was introduced in that version, and the App store must be used to download the OS.)
- 10GB or more of free hard drive space is recommended.
You can check whether your Mac has the necessary RAM and processor by selecting “About This Mac” under the Apple menu at the upper left of the computer screen.
