Line 6 POD X3 Live Review

PODX3live

Bottom line, the POD X3 Live has increased my enjoyment and cash flow as a gigging and session musician. What more can you ask for?

After numerous nights of hauling my SVT610HLF and SVTCL around, to clubs that wouldn’t let me use it, I decided enough was enough. No only was it heavy, but I was limited on sounds. Ampeg is amazing, but it always sounds like an Ampeg. Playing with funk, rock, indie, jazz, and blues groups, I needed three different rigs. On gigs where I played originals I was plagued with having to set up the effects every time I played, only to find out that the gain on my pedal had been changed in setup so that I was way too loud when I engaged it.

Finding the Line 6 POD X3 Live fixed it all. I am able to carry my Line 6, bass, and cables on a bus, my bike, or in a taxi to a gig. This is a must in big city gigging. At first I thought I would have to sacrifice “my sound.” My assumptions were flat out wrong. For numerous reasons I sound better with a POD X3 live than I do with a stage rig.

For the musician who wants their performance to sound as good as the recording, the Line 6 is a must. You can set volume and effect parameters, and change them from song to song, or verse to chorus. Think about Pink Floyd. You want the intro to be huge and ambient, then the chorus slams in hard and tight. You can do this with precision in the X3.

Bottom line, the POD X3 Live has increased my enjoyment and cash flow as a gigging and session musician. What more can you ask for?
