K and PC Compatibility?

Q: Can I load Kurzweil K-series samples into my Kurzweil PC2?

A: The Kurzweil K-series synths (K2000, K2500, K2600, K2661) have two types of sample memory: ROM (for internal factory samples) and RAM (for user-loaded samples).

The PC-series instruments (PC-88, PC1, PC2, PC3) use ROM for storing factory samples, but do not have RAM. Because the PC-series instruments don’t have RAM, you will not be able to load user samples from Kurzweil or any other source into the instrument.

In addition, the ROM blocks that are in the PC series are not the same as those in the K series, so K series programs will not work in the PC series.
