Roland showed up to the Winter NAMM 2012 show with a killer collection of new music gear. There were a pair of custom Stratocasters (built in collaboration with Fender), an awesome multi-effects pedal from BOSS, a lineup of amazing new V-Drums kits, and much more. Here are a few of the highlights:
The G-5 VG Stratocaster comes loaded with Roland’s latest onboard guitar-tone modeling. If you play a wide range of styles and like to use alternate tunings, then this guitar was made for you! For one song, you can play a Strat in drop D, and then for the next, a baritone acoustic — all without having to put down your instrument! Changing tones on the G-5 VG Strat is so fast that you can easily jump from D-A-D-G-A-D tuning to standard tuning while you transition from the chorus to your solo.
If you prefer to do your guitar-tone and effects modeling with one of Roland’s amazing GK-equipped synths, then check out the GC-1 GK-ready Stratocaster. It comes loaded with a Roland GK-2A pickup system built into its body, so you’re ready to rock your GR-55 or VG-99, right out of the box. Beyond the cutting-edge technology onboard these instruments, both the G-5 and the GC-1 guitars are pure Fender Stratocasters through and through, so you always have access to real Strat tone and feel.
Speaking of tone, check out the new BOSS GT-100. This monster tone machine takes the concept of the multi-effects guitar pedal to a whole new dimension. Equipped with the latest COSM amp modeling, the GT-100 re-creates the precise sound and feel of the vintage amps you love, and it lets you tweak their tones to perfection. Simple controls make accessing your effects parameters entirely intuitive, and there’s even a USB connection onboard the GT-100, which lets you use it as an interface with your favorite recording software.
New TD-30 series V-Drums kits gave drummers plenty to talk about. A major update to Roland’s V-Drums line, the TD-30 drum controller features Roland’s new SuperNATURAL sound engine. This incredible sound engine provides you with a level of natural acoustic drum sounds and nuanced playing dynamics unlike anything we’ve heard before. In fact, Roland recently stopped by Sweetwater to show off their new TD-30KV kit, and we were all completely blown away. If you want the ultimate electronic drum kit, this is it! If, on the other hand, you’re looking for a super-affordable compact kit, then check out the new HD-3. It features the same all-in-one design that has made the HD-2 so popular, but with all-cloth-head tom pads and tons of great new sounds.
These are just a few of the great new products from Roland for 2012. Catch up with your Sales Engineer or check out our online Winter NAMM 2012 show report to find out more.
