IEEE 802.1

A standard developed by the IEEE for Audio Video Bridging (AVB) using an ultra-high-speed, near-zero-latancy Gigabit Ethernet protocol specifically engineered for digital audio and video. It maintains the full quality of encoded audio and video and supports nanosecond sync accuracy, regardless of network activity. AVB networks use standard Cat 5e or Cat 6 cables for connections spanning thousands of feet (up to 3,280′) and multiple AVB devices can be connected via AVB switches.
