How To Use the Eleven Rack FX LOOP

Eleven Rack has a nice array of internal effects and pedals but everyone has their favorite stompbox or processor that they like to use. The FX LOOP is the insert point on the Eleven Rack to incorporate your go-to or must-have box, and it’s flexible as well as easy to use.

Connections for your external effects are on the back panel of the Eleven Rack. Two 1/4″ inputs and two 1/4″ outputs allow you to make stereo connections or using the left side only, mono connections. A Rack FX/Stompbox FX switch accomodates different input levels, allowing connection of whatever box you have. Once connected, choose your Eleven Rack preset, push the Edit button, use the SCROLL knob to scroll down to the FX LOOP, and push the SW1 button to bring up the controls for the FX LOOP. BYPASS is highlighted by default so pressing the SW1 button will engage the FX LOOP. Now use the appropriate knob to fine adjust the Send and Return levels so the external effect and the Eleven Rack are seeing the proper levels. At that point, dial in your Mix control to the desired level and your favorite box is now part of your rig!

Like all of the internal components of the Eleven Rack, the FX LOOP can be moved to any position in the signal path. This ability is what makes the FX LOOP so invaluable. For example, an outboard reverb unit or dynamics processor would usually sound best at the end of the chain but an envelope filter or distortion box would usually function better toward the front. The option to put a giant jet-style flange on the entire signal chain or to drop a bubbly, filtering sound right after an overdrive but before the amp is a few moves away. To move the position of the FX LOOP in the signal path, press the SW2 button to activate MOVE, use the SCROLL knob to move the FX LOOP to the desired position and press SW2 to drop it into place.

Of course, all the FX LOOP parameters, including position, can be stored per patch. Using the stand-alone, Eleven Rack editor is even easier because everything is graphically displayed on a computer or pad and can be controlled via touch or mouse. Have fun experimenting with all of the different ways to use the Eleven Rack FX LOOP!
