For all the tonal and artistic flexibility that pedalboards provide in the studio, on the stage, and everywhere in between, instrumentalists around the world can never escape the frustrating dread that one day — and it’s coming — they’ll need to change something on their board. Whether it’s swapping pedals, rearranging your layout, or getting a new board altogether, nobody looks forward to the cumbersome task of detaching and reattaching all their gear. Chris Trifilio, president of Holeyboard Pedalboards, wasn’t much of a fan either. So, he took things into his own hands, launching Holeyboard right out of the heart of the US, where the company continues to manufacture, design, and innovate in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This American-made ingenuity has led to an elegant system of modular, easily-adjusted pedalboards whose sleek profiles and streamlined setups have become a mainstay for countless musicians of every creative creed. Sweetwater’s tenured professor of pedals Don Carr sat down with Chris to talk about what makes Holeyboard such an integral facet of the guitarist’s landscape. Check it out!
