Half-power Switch

A function found on some tube guitar amps that cuts the amp’s output power in half. Typically this is accomplished using a pentode/triode switching scheme. Note that even though the output wattage of the amp is cut by 50%, this does not result in a 50% volume drop. The volume reduction is usually in the range of 3dB (still a significant drop to most ears).
