Fender’s innovative Blacktop series brings a newfound power to many of their best-known designs with the addition of humbucking pickups, and the Blacktop Precision Bass accomplishes this in spades. Equipped with two high-output Blacktop Bass Humbuckers, this is one of the most, if not the most, powerful basses Fender has ever produced. With the Blacktop Precision Bass, the classic 4-string, P-Bass look and feel has been given serious thunder at a very reasonable price.
The alder body has the familiar Precision look, shape, and contours while the addition of Fender’s HiMass bridge helps raise the tone, sustain, and power factor even further. The Blacktop Precision Bass features three Jazz Bass control knobs, a volume control for each pickup and a master tone control, for dialing in the right balance of sonic boom.
The bolt-on, maple neck has a comfortable C-shape and is capped with a rosewood fretboard featuring a 9.5″ radius. At 34″, the scale length is standard but the 1.625” nut width falls squarely between a traditional P-Bass and a Jazz Bass design, offering a sleeker feel at the lower frets.
Shown here in white chrome pearl, the Blacktop Precision Bass is also available in black. Chrome hardware and a 3-ply pickguard complement the sleek, traditional looks of this modern beast.
