Q: I watched the Sweetwater Minute video Mitch Gallagher did on the RME Fireface UCX, and I think that is the perfect interface for me. But I was wondering, do you have to run it with a power supply or can it be bus powered?
A: The Fireface UCX must be powered from its own AC adapter, it cannot be bus powered. RME tells us this is because more power is required for the high-quality converters and other components in the device than is available via bus power.
