EtherSound

EtherSound is a popular networking standard developed by Digigram that supports 64 channels of bi-directional uncompressed 24-bit, 48kHz audio over Ethernet. It operates at fixed, extremely low latency — the network has a latency of 0.125 milliseconds, with each daisy changed device adding a fixed 0.0015 milliseconds. Different version of EtherSound operate on either 100 Megabit or Gigabit Ethernet networks, however the two versions of EtherSound are not compatible. Many companies that manufacture high-end, networkable audio equipment for larger installations offer EtherSound support.
