Abbreviation for Enhanced Parallel Port, a high-speed transfer parallel port that can support several devices in a daisy-chain formation. The EPP specification builds on the design of the humble parallel port, adding two-way communications and faster exchange. It’s been used in laptops since the early ’90’s, where it has been in great demand because of the proliferation of hard disks, tape backup units, CD-ROM drives, and other mass-storage devices that use parallel ports.
