At its most basic, an electro-mechanical process is a process that combines electrical and mechanical processes and procedures. This definition is quite broad, and includes most devices and parts that carry out electrical operations using moving parts. For example, nearly all early hardware synthesizers used electro-mechanical parts such as potentiometers to adjust electrical flow to adjust oscillators, noise generators and filters.
