A synonym for “ground.” In audio terms, to “earth” an electrical circuit means to connect the circuit to ground. Every electrical component in all modern musical equipment, whether synthesizer components, guitar components, amplifier or stompbox components, and so on, will be earthed for the protection of both the equipment and the musician.
