No, this does not indicate two bands that have joined forces. “Dual-band” denotes a router that’s capable of broadcasting two separate networks simultaneously: one 2.4GHz network and one 5GHz network. The 2.4GHz network can get crowded and slow down because of the many consumer devices that use that frequency range. Most older devices can only use the 2.4GHz network. A 5GHz network can be less congested but it may not have as wide of range. Most newer electronic devices support 5GHz networks.
