Microphone Month

A microphone that is designed to capture sound best from one (or more) particular directions. Typically there will be “nulls” in other directions where sound will be rejected. Directional mics are useful for isolating sound sources in the studio and for preventing microphone feedback in live sound applications. Examples of directional polar patterns include cardioid, hypercardioid, figure 8, and supercardioid.
