The Digitech GNX4 is an awesome guitar workstation with tons of useful features every guitarist could ever dream of. Not only is it a truly lifelike sounding amp/effects modeler, it’s also a 6 channel audio interface AND portable 8-track recorder, super useful for performing live.
I had a friend come over to record some guitar for me, and while he was playing I got a chance to mess with the different settings and get to know the capabilities of the GNX4. Out of the box the sounds were good, after I tweaked them the sounds were AWESOME.
One of the audio demos I used for my presentation sounded like a Van Halen track with HUGE rhythm guitars and a screamin’ solo sound. In addition I recorded more of a ballad type track with chorused rhythm guitars and a cleaner solo tone with some grit, a guitarist friend of mine did not believe me when I told him I didn’t use an amp, just this box by itself.
