Getting just the right amount of ring and resonance in a kick drum when recording can be a challenge; typically we resort to the tried and true (but certainly not ideal) trick of stuffing a blanket into the kick. It controls the ring and resonance, but there’s little control…and those old blankets most drummers haul around aren’t exactly hygienic!
