Compound Interval

An interval between notes that is greater than one octave is said to be a “compound interval.” Thus the notes C to D in the octave above (say, C1 to D2) or B in the octave below (C1 to B0) may be referred to as compound intervals. They may also be referred to as a compound second or compound ninth.
