CobraNet is a combination of software, hardware, and network protocols was designed to deliver uncompressed, multi-channel, low-latency digital audio over an Ethernet network. Developed in the 1990s, CobraNet considered to be the first commercially successful implementation of audio over Ethernet. CobraNet was designed for large commercial audio installations such as convention centers, stadiums, airports, theme parks, and concert halls. Today, modern protocols such as Dante are supplanting older protocols, such as CobraNet for those applications.
