“Beano” Album

Although this John Mayall album is officially titled Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton, it has nonetheless come to be universally known as the “Beano” album for the simple reason that the front sleeve had a photo of the four members of the group in which Eric is not looking at the camera, but is instead reading a British comic book called “Beano.” Few albums in the history of modern blues have ever been scrutinized so closely. This is also the album that famously showed Eric tuning up what is obviously a Gibson Les Paul, which is plugged into a British amplifier few had heard of at the time: Marshall. This started the 1958-1960 Les Paul on its way to becoming arguably the most collectible (and now expensive) solidbody electric guitar of all time!
