A/B

This is audio shorthand for the process of comparing any two similar audio examples. For instance, when comparing two sets of monitors, it’s quite useful to listen to source material you are very familiar with on each, switching back and forth in order to choose the monitors that deliver the most accurate (or most pleasing) overall sound. You could also A/B two very different mixdowns or masters of the same song, switching back and forth to determine which of the two sounds is the more natural or more dramatic.
