Apple has announced a big addition (literally) to their iPad family — the iPad Pro! With a screen that measures nearly 13 inches — 78% larger than an iPad 2 — and the most advanced Retina display ever with a screen resolution of 2,732 x 2,048, the iPad Pro still comes in at just 6.9 millimeters thick and just over 1.5 pounds. Energy efficiency is vastly improved due to a variable screen refresh rate; the iPad Pro knows when your screen is static and cuts the refresh rate in half, saving energy. The larger screen will be ideal for working with music and audio apps, especially notation, sheet music, and DAW apps.
The iPad Pro is powered by a new A9X third-generation chip with 64-bit architecture that’s 2.5 times faster, with graphics that are five times faster compared to the A7 chip found in the iPad Air.
The sensitive new touchscreen uses innovative technologies for even better response, or you can use the new Apple Pencil, a fine-tuned pressure- and tilt-sensitive stylus that opens new worlds of control from the iPad Pro. A four-speaker audio system extends the frequency range — all four speakers reproduce bass while the top pair generates high frequencies — and provides up to three times more output than previous iPads.
The new full-sized Smart Keyboard for iPad Pro offers the utility of an ordinary full-size keyboard, but new technologies and materials provide a two-way flow of power and data via the new Smart Connector, while giving you satisfying response and accuracy with natural feel.
The iPad Pro will be available in November. Three models have been announced, 32GB with Wi-Fi, 128GB with Wi-Fi, and 128GB with Wi-Fi + cellular, all in three colors, Silver, Gold, and Space Gray.
