This is a feature of the Kemper Profiling Amplifier. Rather than making a digital simulation of the tone of a guitar amplifier or effect, the KPA takes a “snapshot” of an amplifier — including its speakers and/or speaker cabinet and the microphone setup recording them — through a combination of matching algorithms and impulse response technologies. To make a profile of an amp, the KPA sends a number of test tones and sounds into the amplifier, then processes the output. A KPA amplifier profile can be extremely accurate when compared to the original amplifier and speaker cabinet at the same settings.
