“I’m having trouble getting some new impulse responses to show up in my Altiverb plug-in. I thought it worked immediately when I did it before. Any ideas?”
There are a few possible causes for this. We’ll tackle them one at a time here.
1. Altiverb has not re-scanned the “Altiverb Impulse Responses” folder yet. To re-scan the “Altiverb Impulse Responses” folder, quit your sequencer and start it up again. On the off chance this doesn’t work you can try restarting the computer.
2. The impulse responses were dropped too deep in the Altiverb Impulse Responses Folder. Basically they are inside other folders that aren’t recognized. For the correct location of your new impulse response files check the example in chapter 10, or read chapter 7 of the PDF manual provided with the software.
3. Your impulse responses do not correspond with your current chosen channel configuration in Altiverb. Check out how many input and output channels your impulse response has, and carefully select the corresponding Altiverb configuration. See chapter 4 in you manual for more info.
4. The separate files that make up the entire impulse response do not have the proper names. To double check the naming conventions look at the example in chapter 10 of the manual, or read chapter 7, which explains it.
5. Altiverb is using a different impulse responses folder than you expect. Make sure Altiverb is using the impulse responses folder that you have installed your impulse responses in by selecting it. To do this, activate caps lock before your sequencer launches, to invoke the ‘Select the Altiverb Impulse Responses folder’ dialog. From there you can select the folder you wish to use. Yes, this does mean you can have different folders for different projects and select them when you launch the program.
