Echo Chamber

An echo chamber is a space used to produce reverberated sound. The first purpose-built echo chamber was created in 1947 by Bill Putnam, Sr. when he placed a speaker in one corner of a room and a microphone in another, and mixed the result with a live recording. Any type of space with desirable reverberation characteristics can be utilized as an echo chamber, or one can be built out of sound reflecting materials. Today, echo chambers are rare, as digital reverbs have become the norm.
