When most of us think of a Moog modular synthesizer, we imagine a wall packed with gear and garlanded in patch cables. That’s why we were so excited when Moog unveiled their Mother-32, a semi-modular monosynth built on the popular Eurorack platform. The result is a highly customizable module-based synth that won’t crowd the passenger seat in your car but will still deliver undeniably authentic analog Moog sound. What’s more, an onboard sequencer and patchpoint allow the Mother-32 to easily integrate into your synth setup. But the really impressive part is the selection of classic Moog circuitry itself.
The Mother-32 starts out strong with an oscillator section that’s instantly recognizable, offering up the texture of both pulse and sawtooth waveforms with glide control that lets you craft timeless Moog sounds. The only thing more iconic about the Mother-32 than the oscillator section is its voltage-controlled filter section. Onboard, you’ll find both highpass and lowpass Moog Ladder Filters with plenty of resonance to spare. There’s also a 2-input mixer section onboard, which allows you to combine signals and control volume. Finally, there’s a 32-point, 3.5mm patch bay you can use to get seriously creative with your signal routing and incorporate other amazing Eurorack modular synthesis gear into your setup.
