Q: I have automation recorded into my tracks in Pro Tools, but in the Mix window, the automation control is grayed out and italic — I can’t get the automation to work at all. What did I do?
A: More than likely you accidentally clicked the “Suspend Automation” button in the Automation window. To check if automation is suspended and to turn it back on, open the Automation window (under the “Windows” menu). If the “Suspend” button is highlighted, click it to restore automation to normal operation.
