Andy Johns, the producer/engineer behind many of the ’70s and ’80s most significant albums passed away on April 7. Andy, who was the younger brother of producer/engineer Glyn Johns, started working in studios at 18 as second engineer to Eddie Kramer on recordings of Jimi Hendrix and others. He quickly established his own career as a first engineer and producer, and began working with the biggest stars of the day, including Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Blind Faith, and more. He is responsible for total album sales in excess of 160 million copies.
