In music, a Verse is a short division of the overall composition that is typically repeated several times throughout. Verse is the “story-telling” vehicle of music composition, and while it is repeated, typically the lyrics (if there are any) and even the instrumentation, key, etc. will change. The term Verse is also used in poetry to define a single metrical line and has its beginnings in music as far back as the beginnings of written music (being influenced by poetic literature).
