“Parabolic aluminized reflector”; a type of electric lamp used for a variety of purposes, including headlights, recessed “can” lights, and stage lights. Depending on the design of the reflector and the lens, the beam of light can be focused from tight and narrow to wide and washy. PAR lamps are identified by their diameter, measured in 1/8th inch increments. Therefore, the common PAR64 lamp has a diameter of eight inches. Other common sizes include the PAR38 (4-3/4 inch diameter) and PAR56 (7-inch diameter).
