A hardware “station” or stand into which a portable computer, iOS device, or other portable item is inserted or to which such a portable device is connected. A dock, also known as a docking station, generally provides power for the connected or inserted device, may provide additional connection ports (such as video, MIDI, or audio outputs), and may provide “pass through” connectors duplicating the ports found on the portable device itself.
