An increasingly popular question these days: “How do I bring up a VST instrument in my Logic Audio/ProTools|HD system?”
It’s pretty easy, there are just a few key steps you need to follow.
NOTE: Before you begin the setup, DAE and Direct TDM must be enabled in your Audio Configuration and both drivers must be current.
1) Double click the first Audio Track, which brings you to your Audio environment.
2) Go to the left hand corner parameter box and find the letters “Dev,” which stands for device. Across from that it should read DAE.
3) Click and hold on the letters DAE and choose the Audio device DTDM (Direct TDM)
4) Go the left hand parameter box again and find the letters “Cha,” which stand for channel. Across from that it will say TRACK 1
5) Click and hold on the letters TRACK 1 and choose INST 1
You have now set up your first Audio Instrument track…
6) Now go the I/0 section of that track and pull up a VST instrument.
7) Once the instrument is in place you must then go to an AUX track an in the INSERT column – click and hold and choose ESB.
8) Once the ESB is in place, double click the blue ESB and it will bring you a DIGIRack Box. In the box there will be a button that says, “No link connected.”
9) Push that button and choose the output that you want the ESB to use.
10) Now go back to your Audio Instrument track that you created and on the output section of that track choose the AUX that you just created.
Now you should be able to monitor your plug-in!
