MOTU has released some pretty awesome sample libraries, the most recent (and our favorite) being Ethno Instrument. Because of the size of the library (about eight gigabytes), you’ll probably want to install it on an external drive rather than your startup drive. Essentially, what you’ll want to do is allow Ethno to place the standalone application and plug-in within your Applications folder, but your actual sample data (which appears as Ethno.dat) will be placed on a separate drive. However, to be sure the Ethno program knows where the sound data is, you need to place an alias of that in your Library / Application Support / MOTU / Ethno folder. To do this, just click on the Ethno.dat icon, then under the File menu, choose Make Alias (or Command-L). Finally place that in your MOTU folder inside the Application Support folder.
