Using Kontakt 2’s Script Editor

A lot of Kontakt’s sophisticated features lie under the surface. The Script Editor is one of the most powerful, with several dozen prewritten scripts that include harmonizers, custom transposers, step sequencers, arpeggiators, and a whole lot more. There are even more scripts available on the Native Instruments web site. To access the Script Editor, just load up an instrument, then click on the little wrench icon to the left of the Instrument Name (i.e., French Oboe). Script Editor will be the button on the far right, just under the volume controls and output meters. The scripts are available in the left side of the gray area. One of our favorites is Melody Maker, which allows you to simply set a tempo, then let the script create a random melody that you can edit once you hear something you like. The easiest way to create your own scripts is by editing and saving existing scripts.
