What makes the Shubb AXYS Reversible Guitar Slide unique?

The AXYS slide features an innovative design with a durable brass slide and a Delrin plastic base. Its unique open design on one side allows you to reverse it, enabling you to fret strings normally without the slide interfering. This means you can easily switch between slide playing and standard fretting with one hand, offering unparalleled versatility for exploring different playing styles and techniques.

How do I choose the correct size for the AXYS Reversible Guitar Slide?

The AXYS slide is designed to fit comfortably and securely on your finger. It's crucial to select a size that fits snugly without being too tight or loose, allowing for smooth, controlled movement and easy rotation. Measuring your finger or trying different sizes is recommended to ensure the best fit for optimal playability.

What are the tonal characteristics of the brass AXYS slide?

Crafted from durable brass, the AXYS slide delivers a full, thick, and musical tone with plenty of lower end as a foundation for the chimey higher end that slide playing is known for. Brass is favored by many slide players for its ability to produce a classic, singing quality, perfect for blues, rock, and country, offering a warm, rich, and resonant sound with excellent sustain.

The AXYS Reversible Guitar Slide from Shubb is a unique slide that offers players the best of both worlds. The AXYS slide is made from durable brass and has an open design on one side that lets you reverse it and fret the strings as you normally would without a slide. The base of the AXYS Reversible Guitar Slide is made from Delrin plastic and acts as a ring that allows the slide to easily rotate on your finger when you want to make the switch. Because of this innovative design, players can make the switch easily with one hand by simply using their thumb. For this one-handed switch, Shubb recommends placing the AXYS slide on your ring finger. Guitarists here at Sweetwater have used the AXYS Reversible Guitar Slide and were amazed by both its tone and easy reversibility.

Legendary tone

The world of slide has seen the use of just about every type of material imaginable. From glass to stone to plastic to steel, players have tried out myriad materials in the search for the perfect sound that fits their style. For decades, guitarists from blues to rock have loved the tone of a brass slide. Brass slides have become legendary for their unique tonal signature — full, thick, and musical with plenty of lower tone as a foundation for the chimey higher end that slide playing is known for.
