Interesting that this pick has a patent. I believe it was invented by one of the Everly Brothers, although I don't know whether Phil or Don. The teeth that line the circular opening always have a few points poking into skin to keep gripped, no matter whether you're pulling up or pushing down...a simple idea but a brilliant one! Makes me wonder what the story was behind their invention. Been using them a couple years now and they definitely serve the purpose.

These are the only picks I ever use. Been using them for two decades. The star cutout makes a huge difference. On a dark stage you won't accidentally switch to the non picking side of these picks, they also are much less likely to be dropped.
