Twelve Strings of Resounding Sonic Excellence
With Duesenberg’s Double Cat guitars, the company has forged a new space of sonic exploration through a meticulously detailed design that blends a trio of premium tonewoods with a musically chambered body that evokes the best of both solidbody and semi-hollowbody constructions. House-made hardware ensures fluidity across every appointment on this guitar, impressing Sweetwater’s guitar gurus with the rock-solid tone, tuning, and intonation afforded by the 3-Point Radius Bridge and Z-Tuners. The Double Cat’s tonal foundations of alder, maple, and Indian rosewood are masterfully brought to life via Duesenberg-made and designed pickups, offering an array of versatile sonics through the neck-mounted Domino P-90 and bridge-mounted GrandVintage Humbucker.

Formidable foundations for rich, malleable tone
No matter how many sound-shaping options you have at your disposal, there’s nothing more important than a solid sonic foundation, and luthiers at Duesenberg spare no effort in securing this. The Double Cat’s chambered alder body amplifies the tonewood’s natural sustain and full-bodied resonance, further enriching the tight mids and sonorous lows alder is known for delivering. A maple top and neck imbue your sound with brightness and clarity throughout each register, complementing alder’s natural warmth with a radiance that pulls no punches in the treble end of the spectrum. Completing this tonal triad is an Indian rosewood fingerboard, supplying a crystalline veneer with smooth, glass-like articulation for superlative voicing.
Plek’d for premium playability
The Duesenberg is in the details, and the Double Cat has been painstakingly vetted to ensure every aspect of its design is optimized to evoke the full spectrum of sonic potential. Its set-in neck design works alongside the 3-Point Radius Bridge for resounding sustain and naturally complements the chambered body. A Classic “D”-shaped neck profile is paired with a 12–14-inch compound radius fingerboard, comfortably accommodating countless playstyles as you explore the entire spread of 22-fret possibilities. While this is a surefire recipe for sonic success, Duesenberg went the extra mile by Plek’ing the fretboard for you! No buzz, no dead spots, all tone — each guitar is carefully and precisely set up and hand-finished, following the Plek process, by one of Duesenberg’s luthiers who hand-signs each guitar as a mark of quality assurance. Hence, you know your guitar is, quite literally, in good hands before it reaches your own.
Superlative sound and evocative character
Like their Z-Tuners and the rest of their hardware, Duesenberg designs and crafts their pickups to ensure the transition from unplugged to live-wired supports each facet of the guitar’s latent tonal potential. In the neck position, the Double Cat features a Domino P-90, delivering smooth, solid sonics with classic voicing. Their GrandVintage Humbucker adorns the bridge position, blending heat and versatility without muddying clean tones. What’s more, Duesenberg deploys German silver for the baseplate and cover of their pickups, known for its positive tonal attributes that result from the alloy having zero negative effect on the frequencies being transmitted by the pickup. Carefully sourced German copper wire is meticulously wound with the construction of these pickups to ensure consistency without eliminating the possibility of natural imperfections that give every axe its own tone. The Double Cat’s Master Volume and Master Tone controls are accompanied by a robust 3-way selector, and its middle position positively breaks with expectations, serving up a unique signal that filters out select low-end frequencies from the humbucker, resulting in a distinctly funky voicing.
Duesenberg: the instrumental pride of Deutschland
Founded by German guitar designer Dieter Gölsdorf in 1989, Duesenberg guitars represent a multinational mixing pot of American art deco aesthetics, hot-rod heritage, and exacting German engineering. Duesenberg’s utterly distinctive instruments — affectionately dubbed “Doozys” by their adherents — gleam with proprietary parts and pickups that merge the daring appointments of the early electric guitar age with the pinpoint precision of modern manufacturing excellence. From the iconic Starplayer semi-hollow guitars to basses, lap steels, and beyond, every Duesenberg that Sweetwater carries embodies consummate artisanship. Fittingly, this unerring dedication has attracted more than a few luminaries, including the likes of Bob Dylan, Joe Walsh, Mike Campbell, John Mayer, and Tom Bukovac. For the musician who demands superlative performance, idiosyncratic innovation, and master-level musical detail in equal measure, only a Doozy will do.
